Softphones

Just about any SIP-capable softphone will work with IdeaSIP as long as it supports STUN capability. Below are just a few of the many possible softphones that work with our system. This is just to give you a starting point.

X-Lite is a softphone available from CounterPath. It's the free version of their Eyebeam client, and the new version 3.0 for Windows and Macintosh computers comes with built-in instant messaging and video chatting capability as well as a full-featured phone. Instructions on setting up X-Lite 2 for Linux and X-Lite 3 for Windows and Mac can be found on our new user page.
SJ Phone from SJ Labs is a small, lightweight softphone available for Linux, Windows, Macintosh, and PocketPC 2003. It is the best Pocket PC softphone we've seen so far, and works equally well on a desktop or laptop computer. Instructions for installing SJ Phone can also be found on our new user page.
The Snom 360 softphone by Snom Technology AG is a software version of their Snom 360 VoIP hardware phone. It includes all the features of their Snom 360 phone, including a web-based configuration interface, support for up to twelve simultaneous SIP accounts, and a host of other features. For some reason, Snom no longer distributes their softphone, however, we have it available for download from our site.
Ekiga is an open-source softphone designed for Linux. It has a slick interface, and supports instant messaging and video. It features all the bells and whistles you could want from a softphone.
Acrobits Softphone is a great little softphone app for iPad/iPhone and Android.. It has been tested on our system and works well.
